High-Value, Cost-Effective Career Experience Programme for UK & US Dual Applications
Hello everyone, I'm Director Mi.
High-achieving students from traditional top UK schools tend to be reserved. They struggle to market themselves, craft compelling personal statements, or build a strong narrative for their applications.
I noticed this issue from my eldest son and several other students applying to universities in both the UK and the US. My advice for students targeting US admissions: start your US application preparation the summer after GCSEs.
Watch more American TV series and join career experience programmes. This helps students who have grown up purely within the school bubble get an early taste of the adult world.
I'm not saying this to promote this UCL career experience programme. Many of our students applying to both UK and US universities have leveraged this experience.
Without it, their personal statements would be bland. This two-week programme is reasonably priced.
Participants get to experience university life and explore real professions in advance. It carries strong academic weight: the experience can be included in your UCAS application, worth 8 points.
It also counts as one of the ten extracurricular activities required for US college applications.
Three students joined our engineering programme last year, visiting an airport base to observe aircraft maintenance.
They have applied for engineering degrees at Cambridge and Oxford this year.
Several students who took part in our investment banking programme in previous years are now studying Economics and Management at Oxford and Economics at LSE.
Another student who attended our architecture experience last year has been admitted to the Bartlett, UCL's Architecture programme.
Many students from our medical track are now studying medicine at universities across the UK.
